AIR CONDITIONER REPAIR
What to Do Before Scheduling an Appointment
- Check the air filter. When is the last time the air filter was changed? If it is caked with dust and dirt, it will need to be replaced. Air filters can be purchased at your local hardware store.
- Make sure the thermostat is set correctly.
- Check the circuit breaker to make sure it was not tripped. If the breaker is tripped, you can reset it by shutting it off and then turning it back on. If it trips again, please call a technician to prevent further damage.
- Check for air flow. Is there air coming out of the floor or ceiling registers? If not, look at the condenser (located outside) to make sure it is clean and has room to breathe. Quite often plants, weeds, and grass grow too close to the condenser, preventing proper air flow.
- Check for weather conditions that may effect proper operation. Do you see ice on the lines connecting the indoor and outdoor units? Is there water around the furnace? Is there ice on the copper lines going outside? If yes, then shut the outside unit off for a couple of hours but let the blower on the furnace run. This will allow the ice to melt. Try the unit again in two hours. If the problem returns please schedule a repair visit with a licensed technician.
